Discovery Activities

Just Imagine How Much Learning and Fun You Can Have with Dino Diane's Adventure Books

The exciting adventure story is the KEYSTONE to a grade-wide/school-wide curricular study. Discovery Activities with lesson plans include:
Literature, of course!
Math (and a bit of history): The price of gold and silver in 1893, the carrying capacity of a saddlebag, how many ounces of gold each saddlebag
was worth, distances/time traveled between “secret locations” by horse, train speeds, and more!
History (Wow, where can you go with this?): History of Durango; all about Native Americans’ origins, culture, and cliff dwellings; Pike’s Peak Gold
Rush; mining techniques of the 1890s; trains and transportation; the National Parks, their history and establishment; Aztecs and their origins,
civilization, and demise; Spanish Conquistadors and their explorations, exploits, and Inquisition; and so much more!
Social Studies: Historic treatment and today’s challenges of the Native Americans; the Spanish expansion into the New World; early U.S.
landownership issues and history of rights for women, children, etc.
Science (my favorite): Geology, biology, ethnobotany, paleontology, dinosaurs, astronomy, archeology, anthropology, environmental issues,
sustainability, conservation, survival skills, and more!
Character Education: Empowerment, cooperation, joyful living, respect for others; so much to share!
Art & Drama: Students are encouraged to participate in contests. Draw a scene(s) from the book; photograph or create a video of nature described
in the book; or put on a play. Submit your projects to be displayed in the Dino Diane’s Art Gallery.
Foreign Language: French, of course! Spanish too!

The Adventure Continues . . . The Possibilities are Endless!

DinoDiane’s Adventure Club:
Unfortunately, statistics today tell us that no matter how ‘connected’ we may feel with cell phones and Zoom meetings, depression among our youth is on a serious rise due to the lack of direct human interaction. Dino Diane’s Adventure Club would be a place for a teacher/sponsor to meet with a group of students once a month or more to learn about their local natural environment and to work together in their communities to make things better. It is a social enterprise and humanitarian endeavor.

Let’s inspire our youth to find joy in giving back, creating a cleaner neighborhood community, improving communal relationships, helping those in need, caring for wildlife, and their local environment. By doing for others, taking action, they will find a new sense of personal satisfaction and empowerment and experience true joy in making a difference!

And so much more!
